Call for Chapters: Global Innovations in Physical Education and Health

Introduction

Inter-governmental agencies such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have advocated to regularly review the situation of physical education (PE) worldwide. This call emphasizes the need for global cooperation to improve PE due to its crucial role in fostering academic achievement, well-being, and the overall health of the population. Improved PE can also play a significant role in addressing global health issues such as obesity, mental health disorders, and chronic diseases. High-quality PE programs are also essential for instilling lifelong habits of physical activity, encouraging social interaction, and developing skills like teamwork and leadership. Unfortunately, there is a notable gap in comprehensive, comparative research that evaluates the effectiveness of PE programs and strategies across different countries. Despite the global emphasis on the importance of PE, there is insufficient understanding of how various nations implement these programs and the outcomes of these implementations. This includes a lack of data on the influence of cultural, socio-economic, and policy variations on the effectiveness of PE programs. Furthermore, the integration of health education within PE curricula and its impact on students' overall health literacy and behaviors remains underexplored. This research gap underscores the necessity for a thorough investigation and documentation, which is the impetus behind the creation of this book.

Objective

The Global Innovations in Physical Education and Health book offers an extensive exploration of diverse teaching strategies and innovative methods from around the globe.
